If you're looking for a simple online store solution, look no further.  I have tried most online store programs out there, and this is the absolute best solution I have found so far.

When looking for a simple online store, there are features that I personally require:

1. Open Source - this means the store code is open for me to change and alter to my needs.
   
2. Easy Design - If you enjoy tinkering in design, this simple online store will be very accommodating.  There is one template file as opposed to the "bigger carts" where graphic and template files are never ending.
3. K.I.S.S. - That's right, "keep it simple, stupid" - we've all heard it but it's never been so good as when applied to ecommerce!  It has just what you need without going over the top!
4. Affordable - Once you pay for the installation, you own the cart. You're not forced to buy security certificates, merchant accounts, shop rental fees, etc.  You can go with the basics that the cart offers and be paying under $10/mo. (for hosting) to be in business.

Yes, there are free carts out there.  A lot of them actually!  I've tried them.  Some are so full of bells & whistles that you'll want to give up before you start.
